I participated in several research projects including Porch - the portable checkpoint compiler, Cilk - an algorithmic multithreaded programming language, and Raw - a single-chip 16-processor architecture. Earlier, I designed several systems for large-scale parallel distributed computing in workstation networks and the Internet. In my thesis about The Network Machine, I designed a distributed operating system, an award winning step towards what is called cluster or grid computing today. Publications about more recent research activities can be found here.
My better known academic ancestors include: Leibniz, Euler, Lagrange, Fourier, Poisson, Dirichlet, and Hilbert.
